The Life Of Beatrix Potter

Helen Beatrix Potter was born in London on 28th July 1866.

At the age of 12 she begins art lessons. Two years later Beatrix is awarded an Art Student's Certificate for model drawing and freehand.

In 1890 Beatrix buys a rabbit, Benjamin Bouncer, from a pet shop.  In 1893, sadly Benjmain passed, and a new rabbit, Peter, is introduced to the Potter household.  That same year, the first Tale of Peter Rabbit was written as a picture letter.

 

1901 Beatrix publishes a privately-printed edition of The Tale of Peter Rabbit illustrated in black and white.  A commercial edition is published a year later.

1903 The Tailor of Gloucester and The Tale of Squirrel Nutkin are published. 

1904 The Tale of Benjamin Bunny and The Tale of Two Bad Mice are published.

1905 The Tale of Mrs.Tiggy-Winkle and The Pie and The Patty-Man are published.

1906 The Tale of Jeremy Fisher, The Story of A Fierce Bad Rabbit and The Story of Miss Moppet

.

1907 The Tale of Tom Kitten is published.

1908 The Tale of Jemima Puddle-Duck and The Roly-Poly Pudding.

1909 The Tale of Flopsy Bunnies and The Tale of Ginger and Pickles are published.

1910 The Tale of Mrs.Tittlemouse is published.

1911 The Tale of Timmy Tiptoes is published. 

1912 The Tale of Mr.Tod.

1913 The Tale of Pigling Bland.

1918 The Tale of Johnny Town-Mouse.

1921 The first Peter Rabbit books are published in braille.

1943 Beatrix Potter dies aged 77 but her wonderful characters live on.
